General Tournament Rules:
- Entry Requirements: All players have a Hand & Foot Friends & Family Edition account (signup here if you need one). There is no additional cost to enter.
- Format (for SOLO Tournament):
- We will play a 2 player game using 15 cards and standard HFFE rules (the kind when you start a regular game)
- Single elimination (so if you win you keep playing but if you lose then you no longer continue)
- You need four (4) unnatural canastas and three (3) natural canastas to go out in a game round.
- There are four rounds in each game: Round of 50, Round of 90, Round of 120 and Round of 150.
- Format (for TEAM Tournament):
- We will play a 4 player game using 11 cards and standard HFFE rules (the kind when you start a regular game)
- Single elimination (so if you win you keep playing but if you lose then you no longer continue)
- You need five (5) unnatural canastas and four (4) natural canastas to go out in a game round.
- There are four rounds in each game: Round of 50, Round of 90, Round of 120 and Round of 150.
- Scheduling Your Games: The HFFE support team will help you schedule your game with your opponent (we hope to automate this more in the future). All games will be scheduled via text message unless other arrangements are made.
- Communication During the Game: You can choose if you want to have a FaceTime or Zoom call, an audio call, or no call at all with your opponent (completely up to each of you!)*
- When to Play: You should play the game within 7 days of being assigned your opponent
- Number of Rounds: The number of rounds in the tournament depend on the number of players. An eight-player tournament will have three rounds, including the final round
- Prize: The prize is bragging rights 🙂
* If you do decide to have an audio or video call, please treat the Hand & Foot Friends & Family Edition game like you would a public park. This is a shared community resource and a place to enjoy each other’s company while playing a game we love. Not everyone enjoys talking politics, religion or other important topics, but if you choose to do so, we encourage you to first ask the other players if the topic is OK to discuss. Above all, be good, because this is a nice place.
